3 Days In Moab This week

sawtooth4x4

Totally Awesome
I'm heading down with 3 kids and my wife.

These are the trails we are thinking about running:

Elephant Hill-Friday
Hells Revenge-Thrusday
Sevenmile Rim-Thursday
Porcupine Rim-Saturday

Anything to take note of on these? I've been looking at youtube and traildamage.com. Then all seem withing reason for my Disco.

I may be down there, a friend of mine is going for sure still. We were gonna do hells thursday. Blue JK with semper fi on the windshield is my buddy, Im in a red and black YJ.

I'm doing elephant hill Thurs, 7 mile rim Friday. I haven't done 7 mile before, but it should be fine for a stockish rig. All of those seem doable if you pick the right line. I don't remember anything too sketchy on Porcupine rim, but it has been at least 10 years since I ran it.

Cool. I have the book. I wanted to do White Rim, Beef Basin and Lockhart Basin, but I don't think I have enough time for those. We are driving down Thursday and going home Saturday. I don't have axle lockers, but I have my Center Diff Lock working and my traction control usually does good. Eventually I'll get an ARB or Detroit for the rear.

In that time you could do White Rim, Beef Basin OR Lockhart Basin, i.e. one of them but surely not two or three. Beef Basin can be done in a long day trip from Moab but you'll just be driving past all the neat things to see and really won't do it any justice. Take a peak at this link that Rob put together: http://www.expeditionutah.com/featured-trails/beef-basin-s-e-utah/

Elephant Hill is totally doable in a single day and if you burn the candle at both ends you can do it justice too

Elephant Hill is one of my all time favorite trails. It has some challenges (not extreme, but fun), but the scenery is fantastic! The main loop doesn't take too long, but like Kurt said, you can see lots of extra cool stuff if you spend all day on the trail.

I'm definitely excited. Last time I tried to run Elephant Hill it snowed 12+ inches right as we were getting into Moab. Canyonlands had closed the trail.

I'd love to see some cliff dwellings. But I don't know if we'll have time after Elephant Hill.

But I think I'll do the other longer trails when the little ones gets a bit older. The babies are hard on long trips. I'll have the 2 month old, 17 month old and 9 year old with us. The oldest (12) is going camping with his scout group in Goblin Valley.

My plan changed and im not going down till friday, how is porcupine rim? Trying to decide what to do saturday, weve got some even more stock rigs going now it sounds like. Also whats "The book"??

Wow i came back to ask again and you all had answered...... Swear i checked yesterday and it was blank! My computer has been a mess lately but didnt know it was stuck in the past! Thanks a ton guys! Turns out im not down there. Had some plans change, buddy is down with his family but they are hitting mountain bike trails now. Im heading down this afternoon and we are gonna hit some trails tomorrow. Probably hells revenge and fins and things since they are close.
