What would you guys put on if you were in my situation? For those that don't know I have a 2.5L YJ with a 4" lift and 4.10 gears in the axles, no lockers, maunual tranny, stock gearing in the t-case. Motor is stock with 74K on it.

I need to be able to maintain freeway speeds, but I don't want to regear because I can't justify spending money on the D-35.

What problems might I experience with both sizes?

Anybody else run this set up with either of these sizes?

Pokey,
I have to admit my bias, although my wrangler has the 6cyl, I have the same gears and 33s, I still think you should go with the 33s. I assume you have the 5 speed which will help, but regardless of whether you go with the 32 or 33s, you will definately feel the performance difference on the road.

However, (and here's where my bias comes in), you will enjoy better performance when you hit the trails with the 33s. I've been running 33s with my 4" lift since I got my rig, and now I'm working on fitting those 35" krawlers.

Will I want more tire later.....I kind of hope not, but who knows, I may decide to step it up to the 37s one day.

good luck in your decision.

i am running 32 i have little work done to the engine but after running the rattle snake for the first time saturday and following the big red ditch digger i would go as big as you can who cares if you can't do 75 on the freeway its on the trail that matters to me. i would do 33 but thats my 2 cents

What would I do......hmmmm........steal the Rubi from the old man....:D :D :D :D

Seriously,,,,,I'd wait until you get the axles you want. Aren't you running 31" tires? Get some axles (cheap from the salvage yard under a waggy......'86 and up have non disco and the right drop for the YJ.....if you get really lucky and find an F350, call me and still buy the Waggy axles for you) and do the spring over. You've got a running rig, it can do most trails you're going to want to do.

Then buy some 35-36" for the Waggy D44's or buy whatever you desire for the seriously geared F350 axles.....:D

Pokey,

I've got the 6cy, with stock gears (I think 3.73, not sure) and I've got 33's on. with a 4" lift I still have plenty of power, except 5th gear going uphill on freeway speeds. The only problem that I have with my 33's is that the bump stops shift when I articulate, the passenger side has shifted completely so it doesn't even work. Driverside is still good. My passenger side quarter panel is bent out pretty good. Fender flares are ripping out of the metal. Driverside is bending, but nowhere near as bad as the passenger side. I have thought about going down to 32's so I don't bend out the panels anymore, but now I am in the process of either doing a 6" lift or SOA. Maybe this can help you with your decision. :)

When I first got my Scrambler, it had the 4 cyl. I had 4" lift with 33's & it seemed to do just fine with the 4.10 gearing.

I ran 35x12.5 with my 4 cyl with the stock 4.1 gearing...it did okay at freeway speeds but the hills really killed me...other than that, around town and such it was just fine...I did later go to 5.89s though:D:p

The problem with the bumpstops I don't think is causes by the tires. I have the same problem with my 31's and my 4" lift. But thanx for the info!:D

Oh, I worded that funny, I didn't mean that the bumpstop problem was caused by the 33's, I'm just saying with the bumpstops shifting my 33's have bent out my quarter panels. Made some pretty nice creases! :D
