Hey Im converting my carbeurated vehicle to a chevy 4.3 vortec. I know many of you guys have converted to vortec, what did you do for fuel delivery? In tank pump or an in line pump? Fuel cell? How much fuel pressure do I actually need? Any other help sites you can point me to will be greatly appreciated.

the pump that works really good (or so I've been told) is the Mcmaster E2000 inline pump...that is the pump most guys use...it runs about $100...

Ok I just learned that i have 3 lines coming from my fuel tank, 3/8 supply,5/16 return,1 vapor. Do I need a return line with an inline pump? I searched for that brand but didnt come up with anything. Can you point me to a place that sels them online or a tech specs hompage?

I don't have the vapor line.

Yes you need the return line hooked up.

yep, auto zone or checker...just give them the PN-E2000 and they will be able to find it for you...

Just curious, what psi is the pump rated for, I need something for my engine swap and most pumps I'm looking at are at least $130.

I believe it maxes out at around 65 psi.

Does anyone else's E2000 whine like crazy? Mine is loud as hell and it kinda bugs me. I was just curious if maybe mine is defective or something.

maybe dirt inside, maybe it is working to hard. is it closer to your tank than your motor?

If it's whinning it's prolly on it's way out.....
There usually quite unless they get really warm....!!!!!!!
There about 70 bucks if you get the deal..99 if not..

The e2000 pump is 95 psi pump and the Vortec needs 66 or 67 to run properly an not be starved...
Mine aint starvin--Wanna race!

It should be mounted close to your tank, also, because it is designed to push fuel, not pull.

There is about 8" of line between the pump and the tank (with a little filter inbetween). It's loud right when I turn it on so I don't think it's heating up. It did it right out of the box too. Maybe it's defective--doesn't Vatozone have a lifetime warrenty? Can I just take it back for a new one?

I would try it. Making noise is not a good sign.

The first one I had failed after about 6 months. Took it back no big deal.
I say take it back. Tell them it is not provide the pressure anymore, as your reason. You shouldn't have a problem.

Did you also know that you need to make sure that your fuel filter is going to have to be approved for that amount of flow and most you buy are not---
Yes feul injection filters are not the same as normal carbed ones...Some are, but not most!!!!!!
That leads to pump failure or not enough fuel supply........
KEEP YOUR RECEIPT....and happy trails.... :p
Wanna race...

Well, I don't think that is it either. It did it in it's first configuration too, with the exact same filter before and aft (which is the stock ZJ filter--I can't imagine that a stock ZJ filter wouldn't allow enough flow). I have a clear one now because I had a fealing that my March fuel problems were related to foam getting into the pump. It's been loud sinc the first second I hooked it up. Maybe I'll try and get a new one.
