here's the deal, .... i just got myself a 99 runner and i've been looking for some middle of the road up grades with limited success. i want more than the soccer mom SUV, but less than the full blown crawler. if any of you guys can help me toughen up my runner without going off the deep end im all ears. i'm looking for a street legal machine that i can take to moab and do some off road trails. the runner is box stock now.
i've also been looking at the 4x4 mags and can't find anything that deals specifally with toyotas. they all seem to focus on the american made machines or the fabbed monsters.
looking for some help

Your best bet is to go to 4x4wire.com. Their Toyota section is pretty good, and if you use the search function you will get a bunch of good info.

I would think you are looking at a 3" lift or so...can be done numerous ways. maybe add a small BL(not liked much around here, but when limited with IFS on overall height it really helps getting larger tires under there.

There are quite a few guys with the 3rd gen 4Runners on that board that still use their trucks for DD duties, and off-roading/weekend wheelers.

Most of the aftermarket is small and won't really be advertised in the mags.

If it were mine I'd add a locker in the rear. (lock rite)

And a mild 2-1/2 i lift probably coilovers if you want a nice ride.

Through on some 32x11.50 or 33x10.5.

Disconnect your sway bar once you get to moab.

See www.ttora.com forum for some specifics on lift kits. I got an old man emu but that was before they had all the selction they do now.
