crazy story. The world is weird.

LAYTON -- The shoplifter smashed Gabriel Stewart up against a wall. It didn't take him long to realize that pressure against his lower back was from a loaded gun held by a desperate man who didn't want to go to jail.

The gunman had a firm grip on Stewart's shoulder, telling him and three of his Walmart co-workers, "Don't make me do this."

"Absolutely, time stopped," Stewart told KSL News. "I didn't know what to do."

Instantly, Shawn Ray and Justin Richins kicked into gear, spinning the gunman around. Lori Poulsen ripped the gun away and secured it. They all held onto the man until police arrived minutes later.

The four Layton Walmart employees felt it was mission accomplished. Police officers told them they had done everything right.

But a week later, all four were fired from their jobs. Walmart said their actions had violated company policy and put their fellow workers and shoppers at risk.

I read the story and understand Wal marts policy on weapons but under this circumstance I think they are out of line and I feel sorry for the people who most likely saved lives.....lost their jobs. Even if the only lives they saved are their own.

But, Im sure if they had the chance to do it all again it would happen the same way.

Hopefully they can fight this and get something out of wal mart

If you want to know what it tastes like get a really cheap fish stick and then put it in your mouth and fill the rest of your mouth up with mud.

That sounds not exciting. Why do people eat duck when a rib, burger, pork chop, or chicken breast will get the job done?

WallMart is a bain to society. I'm glad they don't run airlines and encourage the crews to give into anyone with a weapon. We'd have planes flying into buildings all over the US. What a bunch of dumba$$e$.

Seems dumb to me given that they were in an enclosed room AWAY from customers and other employees.

The room they had them in is just off the main entrance so if that gun had gone off it would have hit someone... there is nothing but sheetrock between that room and the entrance...

I hate that store sooo much and would love to see it closed but never going to happen...

as said before call their number (800-wal-mart) and let your voice be heard... only way this is going to mean anything to someone in my book...

WalMart can suck it if they aren't standing behind their employees saving their own lives. You don't know WTF is going through an armed guy's head when he pulls the gun on you. Why bother trying to find out? If you've got a chance to get him, get away, kill him, whatever, that's the choice he leaves you.

They should stand behind their employees' bold and decisive actions. They can do that.
