I am finally getting my truck together! I have been running a 455 Olds for years due to the torque these put out. 500 ft lbs stock! Thats pretty good for a gas engine.

Well its been getting a little sad, blown head gaskets etc, so I built a new engine for it. This was one I started to build in 1980 for my 442. Life just gets in the way of our dreams.

Well this is where i am at currently. 455 + .060 comes out at 468 cid. I used TRW forged pistons, Mondello valve train, cam is a jm 18-20, roller rockers, ARP main stud kit, ported and polished the heads, port matched the heads to the manifold and the headers, Edelbrock Performer intake, and a TBI unit from a 454 Chev.

I am installing a 4l80e trans with a 205 transfercase that will be twin stick. If all goes well I should have it running in a decade or two! Or maybe December 09?

74 chev pickup

Here is the front of the truck. It has the 1990 front clip on it, A/C, power locks, power windows are all from a newer truck.

Olds from the start!

NICE. LOVE the Olds motors (almost as much as the BuFords). This should pull WELL. I'm curious to see how it turns out.

Oh, and where's the 442? :D

Well, the 67 442 was sold several years ago. It was my High School love. Then the 68 442 came and went. I do have a 72 Olds Cutlass 455 that was my grandpas car. It's real rough now, but someday.....

Its alive!

Well I finally got this beast running with the fuel injection! I dont have my rear driveshaft shortened yet so I pulled out of the shop in front wheel drive. I instantly snaped a axle u-joint. Bummer. Maybe time for a dana 60?

Its about time you get that sweet old chev going. You are an amazing mechanic and do a spectacular job. Thanks for all the help with my old dirty ford. My motor still runs great thanks to your amazing skills. This truck is going to be perfect to lug the old blaze to moab.

Congratulations, you've got to feel like a proud papa. You know you wanted a 60 in your new baby anyway. Isn't that olds pushing about 400 ft/lbs too many for a 44? Admit it, you couldn't help but get on it just a little.

So how does it run:D :greg:1tons are so much cheaper these days.

It runs pretty good. I have several bugs to work out still, but it wont be too long before I can really test it. I need to have a chip burned for this application and the TBI bored out to a larger size. I am pleased with the overdrive, and it pulls pretty hard without any tuning.
