I just got a 85 4runner and found a guy that is getting rid of a rear axle out of a 04 taco with a factory locker in it. can i swap this axle or locker into my rig?

You can do either with a little bit of fab. I think its easier to put the taco diff in your housing, but the taco axle is wider which is nice. To put the diff in, you have to shave some of the housing and relocate a stud or two. Then build a switch and wiring harness. There are instructions all over the internet. thanks for the help.one more ? this ecu control they talk about, could I use the one out the truck? if so where is it located?
There is an article about someone swaping over everything but it is more work than you want to do just use a DPDT switch and call it good Lots of diagrams and schematics out there on how to wire it. It isn't very complicated. (that is unless you tried to use the comp.)
