4runner Project

Well, I finally found a buyer for my truck and will be working out the transaction either today or monday, anyway I have been looking for an 85 4runner and found one that has bad seals on the front axle (leaking out from the balls on either side) The interior is kindof crappy and its got some ass sag. The good thing is, is that he is going to include all pro lift springs and the drop draglink. He is asking 3000 but I thought that was kindof steep blue book is about 1400, to get it fixed up to be fairly clean is gonna take a lot of time and some money.
Do you think this is a worthy project and if so what do you think is a fair price?

Is it the Red 4Runner in AF?

Leaky Fr. Axle seals are common on Toyota solid axles. You'll need to get a Knuckle rebuild kit (I think RockLogic has them around $90) to make it go away.

The Springs will be nice to have but you'll eventually want to toss the Drop Draglink & go with Highsteer. Draglinks BREAK when wheeled hard, especially when combined with flexy springs.

Go tell the guy with the 4Runner it's not worth $3000.... tell him what Blue Book says. I'd pay no more than $1800 for it, including the Springs.

My roommate (JJJZJ) just picked up a 85 4Runner with EFI for 1500 and it's in sound shape, so you should talk that guy down a bit!

Thanks guys. I am not going to make it really pretty at all on the outside but I need a clean interior, So greg I have been talking to this guy cameron at my school mtn view and he was telling me about you till he said somthing about RME. Funny stuf. I will be talking to this guy soon about the 4runner cause I just got the money from my other truck yesterday
