5.2L wiring questions

I've pulled a 5.2L out of a Grand cherokee and it's about time to think about wiring it up. Right now I've got the Grand Cherokee carcass sitting at my dads place and he's tired of looking at it. The motor is in my CJ and I've swapped the auto for a manual transmission.
Here's the question what wiring do I need to get from the GC? The wiring harness looks like it does a complete loop around the engine compartment. There are 2 places where it goes through the firewall. Typical GC with power everything and ABS. Wires everywhere.
Anyone have any insight on how to wire it up?

Guess that's what I get for trying to do something other than a Chevy motor... -_-

That's what stopped me from getting a 5.2L MPI. I think I found some info on PBB, and JU's CJ forum (of all places--fair to good tech in there, unlike other sections of JU).

I'll try some of them.
Thanks :D

Find the ECM and work out to the motor. If it plugs into the ECM you will most likely need it. If not you can pull it out once the motor is hooked up and running. That should keep you out of the bs stuff like lights and ABS etc.

If your not sure, pull it, you can through it away later.

If Chris Durhams old rig has run this long, you should be able to make yours work. I am amazed it runs, only about a third of the ECM wires are hooked up!! I was trying to help him find a problem in it when it was new, the wiring was down right scarey, but it ran!! The problem was a bad CPS, not a wiring problem!!

Wiring injection is not that hard once you understand what is going on....Just take your time, relax and think it through....It does take time to do it right and make it look clean....Read up, check PBB, and the various jeep forums, learn from others mistakes!!!!

I haven't done one of these yet, give me a call if you get stuck, might be fun.....

From what I've been told, only 3 or 4 of the wires going into the steering column are needed. There are a ton of unnecessary wires.

If my rig runs, it can't be that touch of an engine to wire.

Thanks for the input.
I figured I would just try and pull as much of the wire as I could. One thing interesting was right after the wire harness went into the firewall it has a connector right before the number of wires quadruple and get as big as your wrist. I think I only chopped 2 wires the rest just came apart at the connectors.
