And to top it off, market analysts are stating that there isn't even a supply problem.

We're getting gouged, no matter how you look at it.

From what I've been able to ascertain from the totally unbiased news media (yeah, right:ugh:), is there is a refining issue more than a supply issue. That doesn't really explain the record prices per barrel of crude, though.

They don't care.......... They're getting multi-hundred thousand $$$ bonus (probably more in some cases)....... Gas could cost $10 a gallon for them. It wouldn't matter.

News article a couple weeks back said a retiring CEO got nearly $400 MILLION in his retirement package. :mad2:

I drive a cheap Honda now, only fire the truck up when I absolutely need it.

Last year, Exxon made the biggest profit of any company ever, $36 billion, and its retiring chairman appears to be reaping the benefits.

Exxon is giving Lee Raymond one of the most generous retirement packages in history, nearly $400 million, including pension, stock options and other perks, such as a $1 million consulting deal, two years of home security, personal security, a car and driver, and use of a corporate jet for professional purposes.

I care!!! The price of fuel is cutting into every aspect of life and that's just not right. I think there needs to be a revolution... the great, American fuel revolution.

You know, every other thing that we cannot practically live without is controlled by the government and they have to ask permission to raise the price (natural gas, electircity...)

What's going on now is price fixing, and it's illegal.

Shawn, you have me thinking hard. I'm going to be doing a lot of driving this year for work, gas prices are supposed to hit $4/gallon over the summer and I have a hard time swallowing that. I've been thinking about buying an 4x4 IFS Toyota PU with a 22RE and converting it to propane. Perhaps add a turbo to make-up for the slight loss of power... :D If I can get one that works well enough & has cold A/C, I'd sell the Tacoma and use the propane-powered truck as my DD.

Anyone know how stable propane prices are?

I think propane tends to fluctuate along with gasoline, but always quite a bit cheaper.

You don't want an RE motor if you're gonna convert it to 'pane anyway, you just want a carb'd one. 2WD if you want better mileage in a DD, but they suck in the snow. (that's why I have a Honda now, just for a commuter lemming)

Cheaper is gooder.

My thinking on the RE is that it would have A/C, which is a must. I'd think a base model carbed truck would be minus A/C. I thought about a 2wd, but if it's going to replace the Tacoma, then it needs to be a 4x4. I considered a car, but I need a way to haul the dirtbike & I like having a bed for hauling other stuff... like cheap engines. ;)

1.95 the other day at Commercial Propane. I'm thinkin of putting bigger tanks in the Scout soon. Propane will go up as gas goes up, Pane is a biproduct of gasoline. They have to make gasoline before they get propane. Sucks, they use to just burn off propane since they couldn't get rid of it. "Big flames you see burning in a refinery"

Last summer when fuel hit $3.00 a gallon, I was so pissed that I bought a 85 chevy sprint. Cost me 300 bucks. Ugly as hell.:D It has a three cylinder suzuki motor in it. Gets 41 miles to the gallon. I'll bet I haven't drove the powerstroke more than 500 miles since. It rests comfortably out in the barn. What a pisser, nice truck and I can't even afford to put fuel in it.:mad2:
