Ok I am gonna start the build on my CJ as a starting point I am running a Chevy 350 with a Sm 420 and Dana 300 for right now I have the stock axles under it but have a 44 rear and I am picking up full width Chevy 60 and 14 which I will be putting under it sooner or later. I am wanting to stretch it to around 101 but not sure how to go about that yet. It will be locked front and rear and I have to figure out how to keep the back seat for the kids. SO any ideas or advice from some of you more experienced people out there is grateful. Thanks in advance Kelley.

Hey, that sounds a LOT like my rig. :D

Here's my rig summary:

-Wag front leafs front/XJ rears flipped around rear--I'm right at 101" wheelbase.

-60 and 14 bolt--14 bolt is BIG so I had to move the gas tank up through the floor. I'm not sure if you'd have clearance problems with a rear 60 or not, but if you didn't it'd be worth having the storage space. I had to modify my mounts for the rear seat upwards about 3". In some ways I think this is a good thing. The kids can see a little better. My 10 year old is already getting to big to be back there anyway and he still seems to have "cage" clearance.

-RockStomper steering arms with clearance for H1 wheels to be able to keep the rig narrow. I've got some pretty beefy tie rods and draglinks.

My goals were to keep it simple (hopefully reliable that way) and cheap. You saw what happened to my 'cheap' springs at "Waynes World" the other day. Maybe someone has a better solution for springs than mine.

A little of my build is at home.comcast.net/~marc.bryson (or maybe it's at home.comcast.net/~marcbryson?)

nice setup, I have done it to a couple of rides with new parts and a little more $$$ but esentially the same (except the gas tank/rear seat thing)

Alcan (Custom length and or custom pin placement) springs (really reasonable $$)
put a traction bar on to kep springs from destroying themselves

that is unless you have $$$ for coil over setup :)

Walker Evans Wheels has a 6" backspaced wheel in streetlock or beadlock
(i sell those for a steal of a price but i am probably not allowd to say that since i am not a vendor yet, my old man is a vendor on the board though so maybe it is ok?)

Gen right gas tank that lets you strech your wheelbase back 5"

(I sell those too- forgive me i will be buying the vendor stuff pretty soon)
you can get the rear body protection in aluminum as well so you dont weigh the crap out of your jeep.

Mike at Summit machine make some pretty killer aluminum tie rods as well (The 1.75 tie rod basically doesnt bend it will flex back and touch your diff on a "hard!" hit, but will bounce back and return to normal, you almost dont even need high steer with it)

I am not just trying to pimp my stuff, I have put this setup on a number of Jeeps and it is pretty sweet for a trail Jeep, and it looks good to (especially if you paint match the back body protection to your body)
