78-79 Ford 60 measurements

Does anyone know the measurements of the drivers side axle tube for the 78-79 dana 60. I have found one on the internet and the owner is not aware of what it came out of. Only knows its a HP60 thinking from mid 70's to early 80's. Since I am wanting this to go under a 70 Bronco I need to make sure it's from a 78-79 with the longer short side. Anything the owner could measure to confirm it is what I need would help.

I'm sure you can find the actual measurements on the Dana 60 Bible, but an eyeball measurement will be enough for what you need. The '78-'79 axle will have around 6" of short-side tube, the later model closer to 3". That's measured between the end of the differential casting and the inner "C" of the knuckle. It's enough of a difference that you can spot it pretty readily even in a picture.

Either axle will work great under your Bronco. I've got a 88 under mine.
