91' Landcruiser Axle leak

I don't know a whole lot about the axles on these but I think I'm about to learn real quick. This should be an easy one for you guys:

Front drivers side. I have 80/90 weight leaking from somewhere. Runs down the inner tire wall. Would that be the axle shaft bearing and seal? (I'm guessing from the manual here) Are there parts brands better than other? I have never had much luck with Checkers on moving parts.

Its a pretty heavy leak. I just picked this fj up for a good deal but it's been sitting for a couple years. So there are little leaks here and there. This one is the worst of them. I've messed with axles from 1st gen toy pickups, is this about the same setup?

Thanks
Caleb

I'll go ahead and assume he got you the awesome upgraded axle seal from Marlin....that'll keep things in place a lot better than the stock seal.

Re: Marlin seals. They imo are the only way to go on the 40/55/60 & mini axles with hubs. However there are some with full-time 80 axles that don't think they last as long with constantly turning shafts. I think we'll all agree that they offer more deflection and better sealing on worn seal surfaces but again there are some that thing they wear out faster. For a part-time axle, 40k miles of actual turning on the front axle is a lifetime, but on an 80 that could be a couple of years.

All that said, I stock both the 40/55/60 (mini) and the 80 Series seals by the hundreds

Good to know. I didn't take full time 4wd into consideration. So are the stock seals better or beefier on the 80 than on other toyota solid axle applications?

Yes, I would guess ~25% larger. Don't get me wrong they could still benefit from the Marlin seal, but they are a better seal from the factory.
