92 yota pickup DTC:22 ECT HELP!

hi i have a new toyota pickup and i need some help, the check engine light comes on after driving for about 20 feet, it dosent turn on when i start the truck it comes on once i start driving, i got the code checked and it is DTC: 22 ECT so i replaced the engine coolant temp sensor and nothing, also the temp gauge only goes up to about 15% i dont know if it should go higher but i get the impression the temp gauge dosent work either , so how can i get the damn check engine light to turn off and get the temp gauge to work???

There is also a sensor that goes to the gauge and the gauge always reads just under 1/2 in all the Toyotas I have owned. The other thing it could be is the ECU and I have a spare from a 92 I think if you wanted to give it a try before buying one.
