I have 93 YJ that I am replacing the 2.5L that came stock in it. I would like to upgrade to a 4.0 or a V8. I am on a very tight budget build. I have found out that 91 through 95 4.0 Wrangler motors will bolt straight into my rig with out changing the motor mounts. It there any other years of the 4.0's that will bolt in as well as a V8 that would work?

Any help would be appreciated.

It opens up a huge can of worms. What about the trans? AX-5 isnt compatible with anything and it won't last behind anything stronger than a blender.

You got some dud information. While the motor mounts are physically the same.... they DO NOT mount to the same place on the frame. The frame horns for the motor mounts are about ~6" farther back on the frame on the 2.5L vs. the 4.0L. You can buy the 4.0L frame horns from your local jeep dealer and weld them to your frame easy enough.

Clemson is right. Motor mounts are in a much further back place.
