'95 4Runner won't start and clicking noise under dash

Hi All. I've referred to this site several times in diagnosing problems, etc. with many 4 x 4's for the last few years.
I've got an interesting problem with a '95 4Runner:
So, I left the key in the on position over night and found the battery dead the next morning. Jump failed and 10Amp battery starter failed to start the vehicle. HOWEVER, while attempting to jump there was a clicking noise under the driver's side dash which cycled every 60 sec, clicking 120 times. Exterior lights flash with the click as well-not headlight or turn signal, the smaller ones on the outside of the headlight.
The battery would not hold a charge (5yrs old) so I replaced it. The clicking noise and flashing lights persist and there is no response when I turn the key i.e., the starter is not engaging at all.
*There is an alarm in this vehicle.
I'm new to Toyotas
Any suggestions?
Thank you

sounds like your alarm got screwed up the only thing that would flash teh lights it the hazards and that would flash faster, id call the manufacture of the alarm and see what they say, or your igniton key is fried

Yeah, it isn't the hazards, they activate the turn signal lights.
I agree, that junk alarm is the only thing that could make the lights flash like that.
I have no idea who the manufacturer was, just bought this thing 3 weeks ago.
If it is the alarm, I suppose I'd have to not only circumvent it but restore the original connections, correct?
Thanks :)

yeah im unsure if different brands are susposed to be disarmed differently but general speaking i think you could find a way to by pass it dig around under the dash and see if you can find anything

It is for sure the alarm. I also had a 4 runner that would do the same thing. I put a new battery in the key fob and cold get it to work again. if you don't have the fob, I think you can disconnect the "clicking" box under the dash but I don't know if that takes it out of the loop or not.

If the alarm was installed by a decent tech then there should be two connectors where they split the red wire and you just run a piece of wire to jump it. If not you need to reconnect or jump the two wires. Look for the cut in half wire from the keyed ignition switch.
