alright guys i am selling my 84 to fund my sas for my 96 4runner. The plans are to keep it decently low 25'' to the frame and keep it streetable. I'm going to do a ruff stuff 3 link with a panhard with a waggy 44 and 63 chevies in the rear. 4.88 gears most likely just because of the more power with the 3.4. I'm going to keep the chain driven t case in for right now because its not going to be a 100 percent crawler as of right now. I am going off of alot of pirate build threads like fawk awph's build...his is even the same color as mine which is extra motivation :D. The 84 should be sold tommorrow so i'm going to be picking up the waggy axle from advanced 4wd for 200 bucks and probably the chevies from South Bountiful Auto and start cleaning those up. the build might have to be outside so i will be gathering parts until then but i shall keep you posted. and i will proabably have to buy a camera so i can post pictures up :) and tax returns will also help fund my build so that is why it will probably be till feb some time that i start cutting the ifs off.

the list goes
Front Suspension-
Ruff stuff 3 link with tube - purchased
t100 oil pan conversion
D44 flange adapter to toy drive line - purchased
Fj80 Forward swing steering box

Rear Suspension
spring perches - purchased
Shackles - purchased
Shock mounts
Chev leaf spring hangers - purchased
Leaf spring shackle mounts - purchased
shocks
ubolt flip - purchased

Front axle- Waggy 44 Driver Drop (purchased flat top knuckles)
4.88 gears
rebuild kit
open diff for now i want an arb

Rear Axle- Stock rear axle w/ e locker
4.88 gears
rebuild kit

Coil Overs
havent decided yet because they will be coming last and i can get them from my work at near cost

I cant decide to do rock sliders now or later. bumpers later on I can decide if i missed anything. any ideas or suggestions?

Keep the info coming. I have my eyes on a 99 that may drop in my lap next year. Wish I could use all my mini truck stuff, dual cases and front axle. Have you seen any builds where they use the Toyota straight axle?

are you meaning the mini axle? i cant remember seeing any. addicted to offroads build was with a fj80 diamond axle if i remember correctly which is sorta toyota stuff. everything i've seen is usually 14 b rear and a 60 front. Eric B's uses toyota drive train but a 44 axle iirc

Here is one. Too bad the pictures expired. Might as well buy a custom Toyota style housing and axles with the right length with the amount of work to flip one.

I had 4.88's with my tacoma (3.4) and with 35's it was PERFECT. A little more power than stock, but still low RPMs at 75.

awesome! and its the only gear ratio that matched i didnt know if i wanted to do the 5.29 5.38 combo....i got check from the bank for the 84 so here soon i'm going to be buying the axle and starting to clean it up and do all new brakes and rotors. what do you do with brake lines from a metric toy to a standard 44??

ok sounds good! i also picked up a set of dana 44 flap top knuckles tapped and drilled for hi steer! everythings comin together here shortly

Ok I will look into the adapters right now I'm tryin to run into some more cash ie. tax returns or sell/part out my rolled runner. I picked up all my ordered parts from hybrid racing now I just need to pick up the front axle and rear leafs and start cleaning them up! Its getting closer and closer :)

Pics of the 4runner

Good day out at 5 mile on 1/2/11

nice! Is that a waggy44 up front? Are you using a kit for this, or just doing it from scratch yourself? Do I spy some 37s under there? What are you going to do for a t-case reduction? How much do you have to move the rear axle back to fit those big meats in the "fenders?" Sorry for all the questions, but you can't just post pics like that with no info :)

Yeah its a waggy 44 up front, the front is a ruff stuff 3 link kit, the rear is using ruff stuff bracketry and creepers. yes there are some basically new 37's which may be ditched depending on if they fit, i have no problem running 35's. the t case reduction is going to be on the back burner till i can get some more cash, 2 to 3 grand no matter how you look at it for driver drop, so i will just run a stock case for now, the axle will be sitting in the original spot, the 37 fit with no rubbing 1/4 of clearance but still no rub, so if its in that spot in full compression no cutting in the rear is needed :)
