I hate to do this but with 2 teenage drivers and my collection, my house looks like a used car lot.
I bought this car 5 years ago from the original owner. I quickly found out it had a blown head gasket. Due to the complexity and cost if a repair, I opted to replace the engine. I found a used motor in an 05 with 13k on the clock. The Explorer had 125k miles on it, it now has 159k.
This is a two door AWD with 4 low. Everything in the car works, power windows, locks with keyless entry, a/c blows cold. It has a Pioneer deck with Bluetooth, aux and USB ports. Seats are power, have no holes and are in great condition.
In the last 2 years/ 20k miles I have replaced the battery, front brakes, serpentine belt, radiator, alternator, fuel pump and intake manifold gaskets.
Tires are are Goodyear silent armors with 80%tread left. I tore a sidewall on one and had to replace it with the new tread design so it doesn't quite match. Also, the front bumper has a couple spots of surface rust.
Good thing is there are lots of these in the junkyards and parts (bumpers) can be had very cheap.
The only thing this car need is rear brakes, they are pretty shot.
It would make a perfect teenager car.
I'd like to get $1500 out of it. I think that's a fair price for a car you could drive cross country tomorrow.
