98 XJ Transmission questions

This is in a 4.0 4x4.
Will driving in 4High cause a problem on concrete? What will be the first thing to go? What would be the cost of a rebuilt transmission, diy, and installed? A friend of mine could not get his to go into 2 wheel drive and I wanted to give him some heads up on consequences.

its not to hard on the trans. now the t-case is a different story. if he's not making any really hard turns and throttling it. i drove mine all the way back from moab in 4 hi cause it broke, and i made a sharp turn hit the gas and boom, broke the chain in the t-case.

i guess he could pull the front driveline so there's not so mch stress on the case while turning.

Try shifting it manually underneath, I did it for a couple months when my 98 was too cold to work on. But I would second don't make any sharp turns or the t case and axle shafts would be the first to go.

I would definitely pull the front drive shaft.
