So last Monday I dropped my Jeep off to have them set up the gears. I had the hp30 loose in the back with the axles and hubs pulled to cut down on labor cost, so the plan was to have them set up the hp30 out of the vehicle and the 44 under the vehicle with the intention of swapping in the hp30 in my garage. At some point there was some miscommunication and Eric thought I was wanting them to swap it out for me.

Long story short, they didn't charge me for the swap. And to top it off he didn't even charge me to lengthen my front drive shaft!

They already had me as a satisfied customer from prior work, but they made it even better and I will always insist that people go see them!!

well i had him set up my gears in my rear 60 and a month later the pinion bearing fell apart so i took it back and i had to pay for parts and he covered labor. a few months later my ring and pinion went out again because it wasnt properly set up so of course i had to by new gears and a install kit but he covered labor well it just went out again a month ago so i got tired of erik and took it to kevin. and he told me there was no bearing preload and it was set up wrong which spun my races in the housing. so now i need a whole new housing, install kit and bearings and all erik can tell me is a dana 60 is not strong enough for what i do. it's under a yj. I had good luck with him the first five axles he has done for me but this last one has been a nightmare and he won't do anything to help. he's a great guy but sadly i won't use him any more just my opinion

Did you follow the proper break-in procedure?

black ZJ: It is against the law for a shop to do unauthorized repairs, so of course he couldn't charge you for the front diff install, or driveshaft mod. It is the shops responsibility to clarify on the work order what repair work is to be done, and have it signed by the customer. Glad he accepted that responsibility and didn't charge you. Personally I have not had good results with the SLC Six States location, mostly due to a lack of following through on commitments

I fully understand the agreed labor/repairs law, but lengthening the front drive shaft was done after I picked it up from the gear install. I asked them to lengthen it, but he didn't charge me when I picked it up, they even threw it on the lift and installed it for me. I have used them on 3 other occasions prior to this and have had great results, so they will always have my business.

Years ago I had such unsatisfactory experiences with the SLC 6 states that I have never been back since (and I've spent 1000's since then on random drivetrain parts and driveshafts). I've bought some spare axle shafts from Orem 6 States and they were cool and helpful.

That being said I'm happy to hear that people are having good experiences with the SL location these days. Maybe one day I'll go back, but for now I have some loyalties to other shops that have gone way out of their way to stand behind their work.

You were lucky enough to get free sh!t done due to their f*ckup, rather than get screwed the rest of their customers.. Did you read the other posts? Your Welcome!

So you think a thread backfired simply because others have offered their own experiences? In case you missed it, this is an open forum to discuss such things. I had a great experience, some others have not and they are expressing this, and of course we now have someone who simply felt like adding some negativity to the thread without stating a relevant personal experience with Six States. Just in case you missed it, I asked them to do the work on the front drive shaft. Have a nice day!!

^ Thank you for the recap, and also for the definition of what the forum is for.. You're not understanding, which is expected when dealing with you. I will have a great day.

Curious, did they ask you to pay for the work, and upon your explanation that you didn't request them to put the axle in they opted not to pursue charging you for those services?
