One suspects, Cody. One suspects. :D

Regardless though, win for Six States I guess-- they have BlackZJ spending money there, and he is pleased with them. *shrug

Kent and Kevin in Orem have been nothing but great for me. When I was throwing together a bastardized front D44, they walked me through a lot of it and hooked me up with parts I wouldn't have even known I needed otherwise. So maybe it's just an SLC thing...

We took jenn's LJ down to the SLC store for a gear install complete with R&Ps, Fluid, and master install kits. Got it back and noticed it still had the original pinion seals in the axles.....which later started weeping. Never saw another dollar.

The parts store on 17th isn't too bad as they have what you need in stock, but most of the countermen act like asshats when you go in there.

So you think a thread backfired simply because others have offered their own experiences? In case you missed it, this is an open forum to discuss such things. I had a great experience, some others have not and they are expressing this, and of course we now have someone who simply felt like adding some negativity to the thread without stating a relevant personal experience with Six States. Just in case you missed it, I asked them to do the work on the front drive shaft. Have a nice day!!

Best quote ever considering the source.

Kevin and Kent in Orem are awesome guys and funny too. I wouldn't hesitate to take any of my work over there but I live in Cache Valley. The Six States up here seems good enough, they have worked a couple of drivelines for me without any complaints. Not sure why there is so much angst in this thread, just people relating their experiences.

I agree:ugh:

Only service work I had them do was a clutch on my 97 GMC, also wanted them to rebuild the drivelines while they had them out. Price was awesome but when I went to pick it up they hadn't done the drivelines so they did them for free:rolleyes:

The part store has always been good. I've gotten a few odd bits from them over the years when other places have been out of stock or unable/willing to get what I needed. Usually they were willing to match prices as well, which is always nice.

As for other work, I've had a couple drivelines balanced in SLC and they tried to charged more than they quoted. That made me a little upset but having worked in computer service for years I understand how stuff like that can happen. As long as you accept the original quote, which they did, it's ok with me.

Hey Beardy, insightful as always. Better for you to open as read only??

I've been to six states SLC a couple times and they have been awesome. There is a guy named John (don't recall has last name) but he helped me diagnose my winch and didn't charge a dime. When i ordered u-bolts for a swap i was doing he showed me how they were made while we b.s.'d about 4wheeling.

Great people make a company imo. My turn off is when people are rude.

John & John in the PTO/Winch department are great guys too and are always willing to give you the grand tour.

All shops should be more than happy to give you a grand tour if they don't then I would question what they are hiding.

Time allowing I absolutely agree, however there is a difference between "here is the backroom" and "check out this winch we just got in for repair". Not too mention I'm sure there is an insurance agent out there cringing at letting customers walk through their workshop and stand next to the u-bolt bender. :D

As long as the shop requires their customers to adhere to the same PPE and safety guidelines as their employees they should have no more concern for a customer walking through the shop as opposed to an employee. Of course some shops have no safety policies and those shops are the ones that should be concerned.
