A Mighty Newbie.

Hey y'all, I am Spence from Providence, UT. I am new to the group but not new to the offroad scene. A few buddies recommended I come check out the forum.

I have had many offroad vehicles over the years and I have loved and hated them all for different reasons. Offroading is a love hate relationship. Currently I use my wifes 96 Lexus LX450 and my 85 Mitsubishi turbo diesel pickup for my offroad adventures.

The Lexus has a small 3" OME lift, a Safari Snorkel, Foctory Elockers and BFG KO 285's. What else cane be said, I point it in the right direction and let the vehicle do all the hard work. I have no immediate plans for the 450 at this time.

The Mitsubishi on the other hand is no where near as refined as the Lexus, but it still gets the job done. I have had it to Moab several times and it has never let me down, despite the IFS. In stock form this truck has been a very competent little offroader and daily driver but the suspension is worn out and needs to redone.

My long range plans for the truck are to make it into a offroad machine that is capable of 4+ trails and prerunning while remaining a great daily driver. Oh did I mention it has to get 30mpg on the freeway. I want to make this the nicest Mitsubishi offroader in the country and the gold standard for Mitsubishi 4x4's. So are my goals too lofty for my Mighty Max?
Here's a shot of it after I picked it up a few years ago. I will post some pics of the build up when I can find some time.

That Mitsubishi is AWESOME!

Thats an old pic, Here are a few newer pics of the truck. A few months back I was chatting with Kurt about finding a good 4wd shop to do a SAS on my Mitsubishi Pickup. He recommended that I talk to Ben Hanks. I think his exact words were "They are not cheap, but you will not be disappointed with their work". Well, he was right. They are not cheap.:D

Anyway the work is great, many mods have been made, but the truck is still a Mitsubishi for the most part.

Here are vitals on the truck, feel free to correct me if I am wrong::D

 Tell me about it! Welcome to RME, sounds like you'll fit right in around here. I dig the idea of the LX450, that's how to wheel with the family in comfort!

I love the Mitsubishi diesel p/u, those are quite rare! I wouldn't mind to own one someday. What kind of mileage do you get out of that motor?

Comfort is an understatement, This is my second 450 and I love them.

To answer you question, I usually get about 28 hwy and 24 city with the setup I have right now but I am hoping that I get 30+ hwy when I add an intercooler, propane fogger and eliminate the egr system.
