A word of advice: Advanced Windows

Get everything in writing, double check everything in writing, and check it again. Don't expect quality installers, sales, support, or any real communication, and if you don't like it, tough beans.

Or, don't use Advanced Windows in Salt Lake City for your window replacement.

That is good information, and it sounds like it's too late for you to learn from it in advance. :(

Yes, I have already bent over. Lesson learned.

I should have gotten the RME wisdom first...

Friends don't let friends buy from Advanced Windows.

We went with their bid for the -entire- house, as it was the best. We specifically wanted the downstairs done as it gets so cold down there during the winter, and that is where the big TV is, and my office. The bid my wife signed off on stated that 3 windows would not have the outside trim (downstairs windows)and they charged us 75 bucks less per window on those.

Long story short there, the downstairs windows were not included, and all of the upstairs windows have the exterior trim.

They then said they will sell us the windows for the average cost of the rest of them upstairs. We agreed, but then when my wife called to check on everything, they said they didn't have anything indicating we ordered the windows, -or- the replacement window for the one they broke.
The sales guy I spoke with basically told me that he was leaving the company because their customer service was so bad, and starting his old company back up. He was no help at all, but I was preaching to the choir with him, as he knew they were terrible.

Reader's Digest version:

1-Installers were rude to my mother (she watches my kids during the day) as we didn't take down the blinds prior to them coming to install the windows (we were never instructed to do so).

2-They did not include the 3 downstairs windows, even when the bid was specifically for the entire house.

3-Broke a window pane upon installation. When called on their mistake, they were asses about it, and we had to push for them to order up the replacement.

Poor customer service overall, the guy who bid was sick, coughing, sweating, blowing his schnoz, etc. which may have contributed to the bid being wrong.

Some friends of mine sold windows for them forever, so we partially went with their window as they are really well made. They did a set of windows for my friend when he built a garage, and they were great. We just got a bunk deal overall, and may not be representative of the company practices as a whole.

That is the readers digest version.

I used to deliver tempered glass to them. My company had strict instructions for me when delivering to them.

1: Park out on the street, walk in and ask for the bank certified check.
2: Call the check into our Accounting office for approval.
3: After approval, drive onto customer's property and unload glass.

There were VERY few accounts on C.O.D. status with us. They were the worst.

wow, I wonder if you have ever delivered temp to us, Im on C.O.D, but it is by choice, I like to pay for my stuff when it comes off the truck, Im kinda of a Dave Ramsey nerd.

Thats a bad sign for Advance. but then a lot of the big companies are on thier way out.

When I worked there, we had a few C.O.D. customers that were by choice. No issues there, because they were on the ball. Advanced has setup and closed down so many locations it's crazy.
