We went with their bid for the -entire- house, as it was the best. We specifically wanted the downstairs done as it gets so cold down there during the winter, and that is where the big TV is, and my office. The bid my wife signed off on stated that 3 windows would not have the outside trim (downstairs windows)and they charged us 75 bucks less per window on those.
Long story short there, the downstairs windows were not included, and all of the upstairs windows have the exterior trim.
They then said they will sell us the windows for the average cost of the rest of them upstairs. We agreed, but then when my wife called to check on everything, they said they didn't have anything indicating we ordered the windows, -or- the replacement window for the one they broke.
The sales guy I spoke with basically told me that he was leaving the company because their customer service was so bad, and starting his old company back up. He was no help at all, but I was preaching to the choir with him, as he knew they were terrible.
Reader's Digest version:
1-Installers were rude to my mother (she watches my kids during the day) as we didn't take down the blinds prior to them coming to install the windows (we were never instructed to do so).
2-They did not include the 3 downstairs windows, even when the bid was specifically for the entire house.
3-Broke a window pane upon installation. When called on their mistake, they were asses about it, and we had to push for them to order up the replacement.
Poor customer service overall, the guy who bid was sick, coughing, sweating, blowing his schnoz, etc. which may have contributed to the bid being wrong.
Some friends of mine sold windows for them forever, so we partially went with their window as they are really well made. They did a set of windows for my friend when he built a garage, and they were great. We just got a bunk deal overall, and may not be representative of the company practices as a whole.
That is the readers digest version.
