This thread probably will not apply to 90% of all of you, but to those who know what it is, I have a question.

I recently heard from one of my freind who just got back from three weeks in Europe that you dont have to order Absynth anymore, and that its legal in the states and is carried in Liquor stores.
Is this true, becuase from others I have heard that it is not the real thing in the states which is why its cheaper. Just wanted to know if there was anything I am missing.

It's more than just the alcohol in it. the real stuff is very serious and outlawed in a lot of places. The stuff you get here does not have the root in it. I don't know much about it but I know it's not the same.

My buddy brought some back from Europe with him. I had a couple shots of it and a beer, never had any weird effects and it wasn't enough alcohol to feel drunk, but I felt like I had been run over by a freight train the next day.

Not 100% sure it was from the Absynth, but i don't know what else it would have been from.

First its spelled Absinthe. There are over 200 companies that produce. How ever only a few of them actually still use the right ingredients like Wormwood. From what I remember some of the better ones are from France and Switzerland.

Most of what you would like to know

Thujone is the toxic chemical present in wormwood and has a similar molecular geometry with THC. It's not so much the alcohol content its the Thujone content that you are looking for when buying this. It's also how you prepare it that makes a difference.

Don't know much about it but I did see it in the Phoenix airport duty free shop last week while I was picking up my cheap crown royal for the trip to mexico.
