I have a 94 YJ with a chevy 350 TBI. My alternator went out. My brother was hooking up new alternator and connected the jumper wire from the positive terminal on the back of the alternator to spade terminal #1. It should ahve been Spade #2. Alternator was fried. Got a new alternator and now it wont charge my battery. Volt meter shows 12 volts at battery terminals with engine running. Display on dash is all the way to the left. Any suggestions

Most likely a fusible link in the charging system. Trace the wires to see if you can locate one.
