Aluminum Oxidation

I have a shot glass made out of a 30mm shell. I have never actually used it but over the past couple years it has oxidized quite a bit. What do you guys recommend to get rid of the oxidation and then protect it?

I thought maybe some clear coat from a can but I really don't know what is best. I don't really drink hard alcohol very often but it would be nice to be able to use it. So what is a food safe way to coat it and keep the oxidation from happening?

Just thought I would share a picture of it as well. Next to a fifth of Rogue Spirits Dark Rum.

Since this is chit chat and all if any of you would like one of these I can get them and I would get them at my cost so I wouldn't be making any money at all. I just think they are cool. They are made out of the shells from an A-10 Warthog.

Herzog and Greg, if this is breaking any rules let me know. I'm not trying to make any money but don't want to cross any lines.

how much$? I'm very interested! aluminum oxide and alclad (the coating that most aluminum comes with) is moderately toxic and is linked to neurological disorders. I play with aluminum a lot when i am playing Airforce. We are suppose to wear at the least a dust mask when we grind or buff aluminum. but I'm pretty sure that if all the alclad or oxidation is gone it is safe to eat/drink with. If your oxidation is light I would hit it with a very fine grit sand paper or even a buffing wheel, clean it with some isopropyl or even rubbing alcohol, then give it a clear coat. i don't have a recommendation on the clear coat sense i mostly just use flat air craft grey.

I can't remember right now how much they are but when I go back to work on Tuesday ill make some calls and figure it out.

I'll probably hit it with sand paper and just get it good and clean.

I would get it good and clean (barkeepers friend works great) and between use just coat it with some mineral oil and that should stop the oxidation from coming back .. same idea as cosmoline but more edible :)
