An IH Scout!

Well, I got one of the Scouts home. I'm debating what I want to do with it. Basically it's just a body on a frame. There is an engine and a bell housing. No trans/t-case. Front axle is there, but no rear. From what I can decipher from the VIN it's a 1963. VIN is FC50379A if anyone wants to help verify/correct me. Wife says I need to sell it, but it would be fun to build a crawler or something out of it. Here's a picture.

I still need to get it OFF the trailer.

I was not a fan of IH Scouts before but, I am starting to come around. Some time ago Xtreme 4X4 did a Scout project that has been my favorite project that show has produced. They started with a vehicle like you have there. I would keep it and see if you can find some other Scout parts and build that vehicle. If you are serious about parting with it let me know. I would love to have it and I have plenty of IH parts laying around.

With what's happened in the last few weeks I may have to let it go. I have another one too I'm going to get probably Wednesday. Wife was mauled by a dog Feb. 28th and we have a second child due in June... Buying stuff is unfortunately on the back burner for a while.. If I hang on to them it'll be quite a while before I get anything done on them.

I think you still need to hang on to it. The scout won't cost you anything to just sit there. I just talked with my better half and she told me I have enough trucks. I guess six trucks is enough. Who knew?

I had six once... when I was single :) I just uploaded a few more pics of the engine and such to the same set on flickr.
Once I get the second scout to my house I'll have 5 vehicles here. But only the Bronco II and the Scouts will be allowed to sell, per the wife. She won't let me sell the Intrigue or Rendezvous.
