And yet another Thanksgiving trip report!

It was a most beautiful weekend in Moab! Considering the fact that we drove through 4 hours of snow and then an hour of rain to get into Moab Thursday night, I was thrilled with how amazing the weather was for the end of November.

Our adventure began Friday morning with a jaunt up Rusty Nail accompanied by The Carl's, The Chadrick's, Cody and friends. Upon reaching the start of Rusty Nail, we were greeted by a mammoth line of vehicles and quite a bit of carnage. We saw a Dana 60 grenade their ring and pinion and various other vehicles in a state of disarray. Thankfully, we all escaped unscathed even though the traction was non exsistent thanks to the euwwey, gooey mud.

It was a pleasantly uneventful day with the only carnage being Cody's small steering issue which the Moab Outpost took care of that evening.

Saturday morning dawned sunny and warm so off we went to the ever delicious Area BFE. It was still pretty muddy out there, but once we got onto LockJaw, everyone did just fine.

Can I just say once again how fabulous the weather was? After a lovely picnic, we continued on to GreenDay.

It seemed like a good day to try and squeeze Lemon Joy's big ole self up the aforementioned hateful V Crack.

Did I mention that obstacle HATES large heavy rigs? :ugh:

Due to most excellent spotting, I was able to find the right line.

That is a very tall wall.

Sunday was the nicest day of all, but due to a broken Longfield, the Carls' packed up and headed for home. Cody, Drew, and Juice were recovering from an epic evening of table dancing at Woody's so they left for home late morning as well. Chadrick was still a bit woobly from his evening of fun, but we used that weakness to our advantage and convinced him it was a fine day to hit Britney Spears! :greg:

The final climb is an absolute b!tch and with the mud, traction was just not there. Chad gave it a valiant effort, but it just wasn't happening. :( Ah well, something to look forward to for the next trip!

While it looks like I've put on a bit of weight here, it's really just my stay puffed marshmellow look for winter wheeling complete with two very cold Yorkies! :)

My carnage for the day! Upon departing Britney about 4:00, we all decided that we weren't quite ready to load up. To make a long story short, we ended up playing around and I found a nasty little stump that very effectively removed one of my tires from it's bead. Thankfully, Chris was able to re-seat the bead and after a hootin' good time in the dark, we were back to the trailers by 7:30. After a delicious dinner at Zax's we were on the road by 9:00. It was a most fabulous weekend and I can't wait to do it again! :tara:

Here's the one and only picture I took. It's what stopped my fun at the end of the day Saturday. Good times, otherwise.

A fantastic time.

We did another 50 ish miles of dirt on the way home through the Devil's Racetrack and then had a most wonderful dinner at the Groggs in Price.

Is that the microbrewery with the awesome burgers? NUMMY if it is.

(wish I was there, but I did play golf on Friday in Smithfield and got to hit the "snake" trails on Sat. Not a total waste of a weekend)

Thats the one. Great burgers!!

You can sort of see the tire at the top of the picture.

I was just minding my own business being trip photographer, ya know, getting good close ups and whatnot when all of a sudden Tara starts yelling "Get out of the way a-hole!!!" (Ok, so maybe she didn't say a-hole but it made you laugh, didn't it?) Now, Cody was spotting and if I recall it was a year ago that very day that he spotted me into oblivion on that very obstacle...hmmm.:cody: Anyway, I'm getting off topic, so Tara yells, I scream like a little girl, Cody trips and falls right in front of Lemon Joy! Seeing my fallen comrade it occurs to me that I have two choices :Let him die an agonizingly painful death at the hands of Tara and LJ (who weren't going to stop BTW). : Or, the most noble thing one can do. Risk my own life to save a friend. Of, course I did the right thing, geez!

Cody, you will be missed.

True story.

Oh trust me, my reflexes are very much cat like when you have a BBW like LJ coming after you with a screamin woman in the drivers seat.

OH MY GOSH! In my defense, I didn't call my husband an a-hole and by golly, I sure as hell wasn't going to back off once I was making it. It's called priorities here people. This is the first obstacle that I've driven that Chris hasn't made. :p
