poor dog
Well, I took the dog to the vet on 44N 800W that was recommended - not that we weren't interested in going anywhere else...this just happened to be close, and they could see us today.
Found out that the massive open wound on Bee's rear was actually a ruptured anal gland!!! They said that it was a good thing that it opened on the outside of her body, rather than bursting on the inside, because it would have been much harder to fix.
2 oral antibiotics a day
3 warm compresses a day (10 minutes per treatment - GAHROSS!!!)
3 cream antibiotic directly on the wound, immediately following the compress
We have to take her back on Saturday to get the other anal gland expressed.
Poor baby. Thanks to everyone who offered a place to go.
The clinic is by no means "new" or exceptionally sanitary-looking, but they got us in quick, diagnosed, treated, and sent us on our way for less than $100. It could have been MUCH worse.
