Hi everyone! I'm really new to the crawler scene, having just gone to Moab for my first crawling experience (talk about jumping in with both feet). I helped my bro build a "jeep" with the help of his father in law, thinkin "what the hell I get to weld and work on cars". I wasn't too interested in the crawling scene when I was helping build the jeep, but I am a huge car nut so it was fun to wrench. My bro's in-laws are Moab regulars, and made sure that I went down to help break in the new ride. I figured that I'd go down with an open mind to see what this whole crawling sport is like. I am really into racing, mostly MotoGP, Superbike and road racing events, ya know speed stuff. I was kinda worried that I wouldn't care for the pace of rock crawling, as it's name suggests a none to rapid clip.

WOW! I couldn't have enjoyed the trip more. The wheeling was incredible, despite the fact we only saw the high side of 10 mph on the roads. I have a whole new respect for the dedication that people put into their rigs, and for the amount of abuse that a vehicle can be subjected too, and motor right on. I was most impressed by the comraderie of the people in our group. The demographics were all over the map, and yet nobody brought any ego despite the inexperience of our little group (my bro and me namely). The jeep is really my sister in law's (her college graduation gift), and she wheeled like a champ, taking the "rat" (my name, not hers) right up Tipover Challenge and Rocker Knocker. I mostly rode in the back, as it was my bro's and his wife's first time out with the rig so I wanted them to have all the wheel time they wanted.

The exhiliration of staring straight at the ground for the first time on Fins N' Things was unreal. That was our first trail, and a great one to introduce a Moab virgin (yes I've really never been there despite living in UT my entire life) to the amazing scenery, and recreation offered in the area. We followed that up with Hell's Revenge, a more demanding, and more enjoyable trail. Our third trail was Pritchett, unbelieveable. Talk about ramping up the difficulty rapidly for a just completed (phase 1) machine. Pritchett made Fins seem like a trip through the Mc'D's drive through :D .

I must say that I am hooked! I am looking for a project of my own, and having to fight my Wife a little bit to get things goin, but she's coming around, having given me the OK to find a project rig. I'll just have to hide receipts :D .

Oh, I forgot to mention my bro is WeenieCJ, and he pointed me to the site for info and such.
