Another "the build started"

Finally started the Studebaker "1955". Yanked the old 429 auto combo and started cutting the suspension out.

Plans... 454, sm 465, np 205, Scout 44's "for now", hydro boost "brakes and steering. Rancho 44044's front and rear.

Any other ideas?

Quick Dana 44 question. I have the Scout II 44, I have a Chevy 44. I'm cutting down the Chevy 44 to match the Scout 44. Use the Scout Shafts, Scout ring and pinion, carrier, caps, etc, will scout guts go in the chevy 44? all I have is a bare Chevy 44 housing. Ideas?, thoughts, pointers, would be awsome... Reason on using the Chevy 44 is that it is sprung over. I do have a chevy flat top knuckle, needs machined.

Glad to see the old gal come back to life. Like mbryson said, yes they're machined for an individual axle, but I wouldn't really worry about them not working. You'll be fine.

It doesn't really matter what I run "if" I wheel it I broke 60's and 14 bolts also... But, 60 and a 14 bolt are in the future build. Cutting and a narrow job isnt in the budget for a 60 and 14 bolt. Eventually it will get tore down to the frame and made Pretty just as I did the Scout.

Thanks Tacoma, but I have two. The truck engine I just purchased with around 75,000 on it and a 1969 Ls5 I have been sitting on for many years. The Ls5 is for the future build. I'm having fun with it for now and then leave pretty for the next generation

"Why a big block" I learned over the years you can't have enough power. Atleast its there if needed. That and it will look Bad *ss in it Tire size on 44's? 33's 35's? I never have done a cut and narrow job. Practice on little stuff first. Probably need some serious pointers. Ideas will be much appreciated.

Truck is way narrow. I want to leave it stock looking and with no street legal issues as I had with the scout.

Studebakers

SWeeeeet!! The only trucks that look better than R series Studes are Stude Coupe Express trucks followed by M series Studes. There is a factory 1958 Studebaker 4X4 here in Evanston (E series) still owned by the original Studebaker dealer.

They say the 58' Studebaker Napco Conversions are the rarest, didn't make to many through Napco.

Finally getting started... Cut a bunch of the old stuff out. 429 and auto are gone. Got the rearend in and the engine tranny and transfer case set in.
