Ok, I have a noob question about link suspensions.
1. Is this a panhard bar?
2. What is the purpose of this bar?
3. If the purpose is to keep the axle from moving left and right, then I don't understand it, because it seems that it makes the axle move left and right. It seems like a radius arm that pivots around the point where it attaches to the frame. Wouldn't it make the axle closer to the pass side when compressed, and closer to the driver when drooped?
I mean, I'm no genius (obviously), but pythagorean's theorem tells me that the hypotenuse is longer than either of the legs of a triangle.
I see that link acting as a radius arm, and the axle would move in a circle around the point attached to the frame. What am i missing? Is it just a long enough arm that the axle doesn't move significantly enough?
Sorry to pick on you nick, I've just never understood it.
