Any idea how much pressure in Power steering

Looking to find about how much pressure there is in the return lines from the power steering box back to the reservoir?

Just a guess but I would say 50 or less.

For some reason 40 is in my brain.

Pressure is created when fluid flow is restricted. The only restriction in the return line is the size if the line itself. Unless you have a very small return line the pressure would be nearly zero psi.

Just curious as I am deciding on which filter to use on my PS return line. Most oil filters range in the 9-12 psi range where some high performance that are more $$ are 22 psi range.

I was apparently thinking of the pressure OUT.. 40 is a low reading to the box.

Off topic but related, the '87 GM TSM lists the following specs for Chevy PS pumps (truck versions):

GPM min/max: 1.32/3.1-3.5 relief valve settings: 1200-1350psi depending on the pump

you will want to know this when you're setting up hydro assist.
