My dad is thinking of getting one cause of the deal they are going ot give him. Don't need opinions about the truck cause I already have lots of those. Just need some info from someone that has one, mostly fuel mileage and reliability?

I've heard Dodge is doing the same thing, you can pay $20k less for a new loaded diesel now versus a year ago. No opinion here, just mentioning. I'd imagine GM is in the same boat.

I've got a buddy that has one. REALLY nice truck but...........

it's been in the shop twice for AC work already.

He's hit a deer (definitely not the trucks fault) taking out his grille, intercooler radiator and headlights/bumper.

...and he's getting worse mileage in his NEW truck than I do in my 200K mile 1999 7.3L. I'd assume it will go up, but probably not to 6.0L mileage. I think he told me he was hitting 14-15 mpg on the road unloaded. 10 with his big toyhauler trailer (10K lbs, 26'). He asked me about taking off that exhaust doohickey that dumps fuel into the exhaust to burn the unburned. I don't think I'd mess with that, but I'm sure there's some mileage to be gained there?

He bought it the weekend of Mem. day. It's seriously been in the shop at least 5-6 weeks since he bought it. 2 for the body work.

yup, a friend of mine just picked up an 08 dodge, 48k sticker price, out the door for 32k

I had an '08 F350 for work and it sucked on mileage. Got 10-11. Other than that, it was a very comfortable truck.

Now is a great time to buy almost any car, but deals on trucks and SUV's are especially sweet.

My brothers work truck is an 08 F450 with a fully loaded utility bed. It will pass anything BUT a gas station! It gets 6-8 mpg no matter what  granted it is a big work truck.

I don't like the DPF and the issues it creates when i runs it's burnoff cycle. It seems like that setup could really creature some issues in the future.

Reliability wise the radiator was replaced due to the plastic tanks peeling off, but other than a few trips to the dealer for small random issues it does seem to be fairly reliable--EXPECIALLY compared to the early 6.0's.

They are a very sexy truck, but as far as the Fords go I'd have a hard time talking myself into anything but a 7.3L. Just my .02.

I'll add that I dumped the '08 F350 and kept the '04 Dodge 2500 which I enjoying driving much more. I'm not pulling 20K+ loads so the power is fine for my application and the mileage with a chip installed is 19-21 on average. If you can get a similar deal on a Dodge, get it.

I think he's up to seven trips to the dealer now. I'm not sure how many of those are related to the intake he had the dealer install. Pulling my boat back from Powell I think he told me he got 15 (small boat, 19'). It's a powerfull truck though, we pulled an excavator up to Kamas like it wasn't even there.

He's a knucklehead anyway... :D (not really, but since you know him.....I'm sure he is :D) I wondered whose cute little boat that was.

My brother in law has an 08 F-250 Extended cab long bed 4X4 with the Powerstroke that is his company truck. His old one was identical except it was an 04 (I think) with the single turbo and a 5 speed. The 08 has an automatic. The 04 got 18-19mpg on the highway and the 08 gets 13. Now he does carry a 100 gal bulk transfer tank of diesel and a PackRat with about 900lb of tools in it.
