I'm a biker. What they did is not acceptable. I would have done the same thing faced with the same decision. Looks like the bikers will be charged with several offenses. The guy in the range rover is not being charged. His actions are being seen as someone who thought he was in danger.

I have had a motorcycle license since I was 16 and dirtbike since I was 10, and those years have taught me one very important lesson. A motorcycle is zero protection compared to .... Dirt, Asphalt, Concrete, Cars, etc etc etc.

Quite frankly had I been in the SUV with my family I think dialing 911 would have been first response, before driving over someone, and hoping their response time was quick (who knows maybe he did). Probably not real smart to continue to run from 100+ bikes without calling the cops first before escalating it?

But with that being said the biker is the real idiot. I don't care how bad-A you are, picking a fight with a 6,000 lb SUV, is dumb! I would never say a biker deserves to get run over, but surrounding a guy in a big SUV with a bunch of bikes, is like gang of people with bats surrounding someone with a gun. Yeah he might go down, but someone else was bound to get hurt before he does.

That is not the whole video. There is footage from earlier. According to the news reports I've seen, the driver called 911 before the footage you see. In fact he called several times. If there were off duty police in this group, why didn't they try to control this situation.

There was an Undercover police officer riding with the group, he didn't intervene because he didn't want to blow his cover. If that doesn't tell you these guys are up to no good, I don't now what would.

The riders started the confrontation, they are responsible for the outcome. They were obviously wanting to start something, looks to me like they cased out their victim and decided he was the one to abuse. They're obviously slow in the head if they think motorcycles are going to take on a 6,000 # SUV.

Apparently they were trying to shut the highway down, so they could 'stunt'... :wtf: They're lucky more of them didn't get ran over & end up severely injured.

The bikers definately had a mob mentality, and got what they deserved.. The driver was way more calm than I would have been.

Around here they usually have some sort of police escort when they do big bike events but im talking about Harleys not RICERS .
That many bikes needs a permit of some sort .

I woulda taken out way more bikers to get away . The few that got ran over deserved what they got and luckily the guy wasn't as harsh as some of us would of been. Good thing it wasn't a trucker.

When I was into street racing , the cops would let the American cars race and just watch ( maybe 10-20 cars) but when the Hondas pulled up with a couple hundred cars it got shut down quickly (boxed in w/ hwy patrols) .

I hope the guy recovers .

The police were aware of the ride/event, but it was not organized legally... apparently they wanted to 'stunt' in Times Square...

I worked with a dude that purchased his first bike 5 years ago (Harley). he immediately was taking on the Biker look. leathers boots and all. one day after work I see him getting on his bike and he has this long chain hanging from the handle bars, I ask him what that is for... He says he plans on using it on the next car that cuts him off, he says all the guys he rides with are getting them... I broke out the paper and crayons and started drawing a picture of why this is a very very bad idea, he is thinking he can drive better and faster so not to get ran over, in the end it was the situation that what if it is your mom that accidently cuts of one of his buddies and they start beating on her car and causes her to crash and is injured. this kind of behavior is caused from some bigger mental problem with in the rider, not a self defense reaction.

No I don't. I did see it on the news though. Plus the police mentioned that they have footage from when they first encountered the car. I would like to see the whole video myself. From what I understand, there is no question about who is at fault after watching the whole video. Plus if there was an undercover cop with them. That would explain how the police know more of what went on, and who to look for.

I wouldn't compare this group of bikers of to regular motorcycle enthusiasts. These guys think the laws are for someone else and they should be able to get away with anything. If you notice in the video, not many are running plates. They were trying to shut down a section of freeway to do stunts. I originally had questions about what the driver of the Rover did to make the group mad, but after hearing everything I feel he was completely justified in what he did, and I'd probably do the same thing.

Last I heard was last night. Caught just a glimpse. Two of the bikers have been arrested and charged. The families of the bikers are upset saying he would never do that. Well guess what it's on video.

Just saw that the undercover cop that was with the bikers has been arrested for smashing a window and denying involvement with the incident.
