anyone have a big offroad or military trailer we could borrow?

A few of us (RET32, cruiseroutfit, and me) are working to schedule a fencing/historical service project with the Forest Service. We need to transport 50-60 14 foot logs about 6-8" in diameter. We need to haul them up to Dutchman's Flat (near the start of Forest lake trail). Does anyone have a large offroad trailer they would be able to loan out or drive themselves? We're thinking mid to late September.

So you are thinking a regular car hauler isn't going to work...

It has been forever since I have played up AF canyon.

Wouldn't mind chipping in some grunt labor when the time comes. ;)

It's a pretty rough, narrow road. It might be possible to get a regular car hauler up there, but I wouldn't be surprised if it'd drag or get hung up quite a bit.

Wouldn't a pick up with a lumber rack be a better option if available? It seems that trying to keep a 14' board in a 6 or 8' trailer would be hard. Let alone 60 of them

That's also going to be a Lot of weight for a little trailer.. imo

Yes, that would be ideal. Great idea. We're going to have to make multiple trips up the road; there's no way we're getting all 60 up in one load.

Fwiw the logs will likely be staged at Dutchman Flat, we need to get them to Graveyard Flat which is beyond the comfortable level of a standard car hauler. In the past we used dieselcruiserheads trailer, he no longer owns it but I think sixb's will be perfect

Count me in for labor.

A shot from '06, the last time we hauled a ton of logs up for the FS. We made the 40 work that day.
