Bubba--I think your "roommate" was looking for a nibbler....of some sort.

Sawzall is pretty rough. If you are concerned at all about the quality of the cut, I would use an air saw or small grinder with a cutting wheel. I used an air nibbler once, but it had a tendancy to chip the paint at the edge. It wouldn't be an issue if you were planning on putting some sort of plastic edging over the cut.

If you're going to use a pneumatic cut off tool you'd better have a decent sized compressor or you'll be waiting around a long time. I have a sawzall you can borrow if you need one. Just make sure and chip some paint and make Cody cringe.

I used a JigSaw with a Metal cutting blade the other week when I cut my fenders off. I started out with the sawzall but it was a PITA to control and it was way rough, so I went the little man route and used the Jigsaw and it worked great.

Bring it down and mark it with tape. I'll hand you the plasma and you can cut to your hearts content.;)

pnumatic body saws are the best way I have found to do this. They are similar to a sawzall, but much more controlable and quicker.

x2 on the pnumatic saw. harbor freight has one for 20 bucks and i have used mine to cut out 8 different fenders and make a set of fender flares and it still works great. just make sure you also get extra blades. it will cut through your fender liek butter and leave a nice smooth edge.

My goodness....it's a sawzall. Your local hardware store should have one that will work just peachy! ;) And then you'll actually own it and can use it for a variety of tasks.

this isn't the same guy with more than the value of his jeep under the hood of his Miata--and with plans to buy a Lotus or something is it?

$99 for a sawzall that can be used for a variety of random tasks is out of the question!

Really though, I have a craftsman 19 volt sawzall. It would probably do the job but I think there are better options. lemme know

At the risk of this turning into an interview process similar to the stranded ZJ in Moab debacle, I suppose you could use my Dewalt corded sawzall. I have a box of like 100 Hilti blades too. It has a long history of terrorizing ZJ sheetmetal. It's almost famous in it's own right. :D

For the record, I once used a wood saw to cut my bumpers while on the trail....another example of using the wrong tool for the job lol.

I would avoid using a sawzall unless that is all you can dig up.

I'd like to apply. I don't recall what it was I used, maybe some tin snips, but they are the best damn tin snips you'll find around I can assure that :D
