Hey everyone,

I don't know if this is the right area to post this, but I have something to say. Today while attending school, Peter Corroon stopped by to say hi and answer questions. Peter Corroon is running for governor against Gary Herbert. I decided to step up to the plate and ask him his thoughts about land usage and so forth, and if he is okay with shutting public land down for off road usage. He straight up told me that "if your use is for farming then something needs to be in place to protect you, but other areas need to be protected, so we will see how to protect them." I don't know about you, but that was a big turn off for me. I read between the lines on that one, and he was letting me know that he will put his influence to shut down off road areas. That was my general feel from him from his answer to me.

I have personally always like the way Herbert adresses certain situations he seems to come right out and say it like it is he doesnt butter it up to make it seem any more or anyless of what the situation really is and i like that in a political person

Yeah, I pretty much didn't like hearing what I heard. I will not vote for him. If Herbert is willing to help the cause, i will support him as well.

Corroon is a Dbag..

Now for 2nd Amendment issues...

I've been pretty stoked about Jason Chaffetz over the last year or so.. But I just found out that he voted to increase TAX penalties for gun manufacturers. Let me repeat that so it fully sinks in: Incumbent Rep. Jason Chaffetz just voted to further increase TAX penalties on firearms manufacturers.

Utahn Gun Rights and Liberty Advocates need to wake up and fast. Chaffetz voted to pass H.R. 5552: The Firearms Excise Tax Improvement Act of 2010 (right along with incumbent Reps. Matheson and Bishop).

F that... My vote will most likely go to Douglas Sligting:

"The main reason that the Founding Fathers put in the second amendment was to allow the citizens to arm themselves to protect themselves from the government, not from criminals. Any attempts by the government to limit the right to bear arms should be seen as tyranny. A citizen of of he United States should be able to carry whatever weapon they chose without regulation or registration and any laws that currently regulate our right to bear arms or require any form of registration should be repealed. We should not be guilty until proven innocent. This is what true liberty is all about. Unfortunately our government feels its current role is to protect us from ourselves.

Thanks,

Douglas Sligting

Herbert isn't exactly a vote-worthy politician either. Any guy who comes into office and freely admits that he's not willing to push forth legislation and reform that is absolutely critical to our local economy because he is afraid of upsetting voters in the following years election, can kiss my ass. I don't want a politician that wants to be a politician, I want a guy in office that is willing to take action and do something.

Looking up what that act is, but let it be known that Chaffetz introduced HR2193, the Affordable Reloaded Munitions Supply Act as well.

ok, so here's the summary:

8/16/2010--Public Law. (This measure has not been amended since it was passed by the House on June 29, 2010. The summary of that version is repeated here.) Firearms Excise Tax Improvement Act of 2010 - Amends the Internal Revenue Code to require: (1) excise taxes on recreational equipment to be due and payable on the date for filing the return for such taxes (i.e., quarterly); and (2) the Secretary of the Treasury to assess and collect, in the same manner as delinquent taxes are assessed and collected, mandatory orders of restitution for victims of crime. Increases by 0.25% in the third quarter of 2015 the estimated tax payments of corporations with assets of not less than $1 billion. Provides for compliance of the budgetary effects of this Act with the Statutory Pay-As-You-Go Act of 2010.

Not many gun companies with over a billion in assets. As for the rest, the only issue I've got is with the "mandatory orders of restitution for victims of crime." But even then, my issue is less with this T-crossing, I-dotting amendment than it is with legislation that provides for that mandatory order. Unless the gun company is negligent or provides guns, knowingly, to murderers, they should not be paying at all.

You are a knee-jerk reactionary, Mudflap. :D

F Corroon on the police fee! F Herbert on having questionable ethics! F that Libertarian guy for not being a real Libertarian and F that unaffiliated guy for being weird and mentioning god a lot. F Chaffetz for hating gun owners but standing up to Pelosi and company and speaking his mind too much. F Matheson for being a Blue Dog Democrat and kinda sorta voting for health care. F Philpot for running on the fact that people don't like Pelosi, but might actually like Matheson. F Holly Mullen for being Holly Mullen. F electronic voting machines, I miss hanging chads. F politics!

So I just got back from casting my ballot. Good times! Loved it! I put myself in as a write in candidate in an unopposed school district race. Keep your fingers crossed everyone!

There's not a good choice for Governor on the ballot this year. Just like the presidential race in 2008. :(

I voted Caroon 'cause Herbert's a lying thief, and Caroon served me birthday cake once. I want Huntsman or Leavitt back. :(

Ef the museum! :D
