I like the footage but don't see how just a knee injury would be the case for the new car. I saw whiplash in the newer chev's occupant. Both vehicles had some major damage.

Good show though!

The most impressive crash is the Smart car into a wall. That one looked safeish.

Did the 1959 Bel Air have seatbelts? I wonder if the vast majority of the difference in injury are just the seat belt and air bag.

that's a big part of it, but crumple zones matter, and the general understanding of energy dissipation is just so much better now.

That video makes me sick though, waste of a Bel Air. :(

Great ! New cars do better in a frontal crash ! Du !
Didn't have to destroy a classic car that will never be made again to prove their point !!

They do much the same thing in movies and TV , why don't they crash a Honda accord or some other ready made disposable POS in stead of a classic car or truck :mad2:

That's crazy! In the overhead view you can see the new car crumples in the hood area, leaving the passenger compartment whole, and the bel-air the hood section stays pretty intact and the passenger compartment see's the brunt of the damage.

Oh and  about the classic car looking like it sat in mint condition in a warehouse for 50 years waiting to be destroyed!
