My wife and I are thinking of getting a vinyl plotter and cutter with some of our tax return for alittle extra income and wondered if the backing you peal off when you apply the vinyl on a window comes on the vinyl rolls or if you have to buy that seperately and apply it to the vinyl?

This is similar to what we are looking at getting as it comes with a fun way to do tshirts as well. http://www.ebay.com/itm/20071221404...X:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649#ht_7011wt_1163

thanks I just got a call from someone pointing me to where I need to go for more info. hopefully I we can get this and get it figured out. Once we get it figured out ill start making some things for you guys.

I have a 34" one and tons of extra stuff for shirts etc... They are fun but don't plan on making much income with them. They have become so cheap it really is a flooded market. Plus you have to keep a large inventory or you'll find yourself constantly spending an extra hour to pick up $15 in material for a $30 job. Also don't forget about the software. Most come with basic software but if you want to do anything professional plan on having adobe illistrator at a minimum.

I'm not trying to talk you out of it because they really are a cool toy to have at your house. Just if you're trying to start a small home based business this one really isn't a money maker.

definately not wanting to develop a real business with it but just something for a new hobby and to keep us from getting bored.

they are fun. I would recommend getting a high pressure heat press instead of the screen printing setup. screen printing takes a fair amount of time to get set up and unless you doing quantity of 20 or more I don't think it's worth it. plus unless you buy a multi colored station your limited 1 color. with a heat press you can do custom 1 off t shirts quickly and they look great. I just got done a couple weeks ago doing a set of jerseys for a hockey team.

Another thing to be aware of these cheaper ones like posted above are all serial control. The usb is a serial driver and donot work well. Make sure the computer you will be using has a db9 or db25 com port or you more then likely will have a problem from time to time.
