AOD-E Tranny wiring???

Hey all, I'm looking at swapping an aod-e trans from an 88 bronco into my 69. I'm wondering if anyone has had any experience rigging the wire harness and computer to work as a stand alone unit. I beleive Painless sells a kit but they usually cost big$$$. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Pony up for the harness, you'll have new wires, you won't have to worry about what goes where, and it'll only take a few minutes instead of a few hours to do.

AOD-E? Never heard of it. 88's either had an AOD/302 or a C6/351, neither of which is electronic. The electronically controlled E4OD didn't appear until 90.

AOD-E was the computer controlled AOD - with the same weak 4th gear. Mostly for the 5.0 and 4.6L cars (Mustang, Town-car, Thunderbird.) I've owned a handful of them. 1991 but I don't think it hit the mustang until 94 I could be wrong.

Now that I look at it closer, this thing is in fact the E4OD tranny, and the guy that parted out the bronco said it was an 88 and that that trans was the original.?? It had a Np 205 TC however he sold that seperately, unfortunately for me...anyone have one they don't need? As far as the wiring I took all the original wires and computer so hopefully I can rig this thing somehow.

just get a good wiring diagram for the 88 to build your harness. I've done it twice now and has worked really good. But it does takes a lot of time to figure it out. I do believe to close the loop on the computer you do have to use the speed censor from the tranny.

88's didn't have the E4OD available so the wiring diagram will be worthless.

You'll need a computer & harness from a Bronco or F-150 that came with an E4OD. All of your questions can be answered here www.fullsizebronco.com
