we are in the process of building an off-road racing organization in the state of Utah we will be hosting races here (as close to home as 5 mile) and in northern Nevada. we are trying to get a count of how many Utahans would be interested in racing in these events. If you are interested please send me an email so I can get a count for our BLM permits. mattstevens1172@aol.com

Now that your avitar is up and running, I see that you are into the pro truck scene. I believe I can speak for most Utahn's when I say there's not a lot of us with 2wd $120,000 trophy trucks in our driveways, but as soon as you say "Best in the desert" or "Jeepspeed", you'll get a lot of our attentions. Some of us have to drive out to Jackpot, Henderson or further to catch some of the races. It would be nice to have some action in our own backyard.

Are you part of an existing organization? Do you have a website or a location where we could get some more info? Keep us posted and welcome to RME.com!

Give me a break guys who in utah has a trophy truck in there back yard. our organization is being build by utahans for utahans.
the average cost of the trucks and buggies we race with is $5,000 to $50,000 for people that have been building there vehicle for 5 years... Just weld a cage in your truck add a safety fuel cell and come racing. And yes our group did buy Bore racing the name will be changed to better represent Utah and we will still be racing northern Nevada but we are working on new races for Utah. I was just up at the BLM today working on the race course out at 5 mile just past Cedar Fort. We will have 2 to 3 races in Utah before too long. we are shooting for having it done in 2010. If you go on you tube and type in "fire guys racing" you will find the typical utah race truck and these guys win down in southern nevada all the time in a budgeted truck.

This is something I have always wanted to do. Just dont have the $$$ to fund another project right now.

If you get some races going PLEASE post up here so I can come watch. It might give me the motivation to start a race truck

There's a guy in my neighborhood who'd be quite interested. I'd bet you've already chatted with him, though? Brady Sessions
I have not chatted with him but Allen Or dave may have. Have him send me an email mattstevens1172@aol.com. as for all of you that post I want to do it but I dont have the money. I don't have the money to do the racing I do either so I found a couple of other people that didn't have the money to do it them selves and between us we did. and as for who gets to drive at the races on a 3 or 4 owner team the answer is all of you. I found out quickly it's nice to be able to hand the car off after 100 or 150 miles. All of you that would be interested in teaming with other people to build a vehicle email me and I'll put you together to see if you can work it out. as for the I'm building my vehicle but I work slow do you need any help we have a big network of off-road racers in Utah and we all help each other. watch this vid link all of these 8 or 9 guys got together as a team and now they all get to race.

I have been seriously concidering JeepSpeed the last couple of years, but it will likely be another year or so before I can act on my conciderations.

I know we will have a big jeepspeed class as alot of the local racers come from rock crawler backgrounds and are used to jeep builds. The other class that I think will be big is 1/2 1600 which is basicaly a dunebuggy rial frame with a stock 1600cc volkswagon engine but you would be amazed how fast they are on the desert.... Rob mac finnished 6th overall at the Mint 400 this year in one of these he beat out most of the trophy trucks.

^^^^^ Thanks. Thanks a lot.

I've already found myself a good deal on an early bronco. Now the blazer will never be finished and the wife will be mad I'm getting another truck.

That Bronco sweet. And we always build all of our own parts there is no way in hell I'm going to pay Bkitzkreig or someone $18,000 for a front set of arms and uprights when we can build them just as well for the cost of molly plating and heims.

Well I raced 1/2 1600 in LaRana and M.O.R.E. a few years back. The thing that people dont see is the entry fees. The last race we ran cost us 460.00 entry and half of that was the pay back. When you get into a class and start building your car, the cost just start to pile up fast. Bdfore you know it your into it 20-30,000 bucks. A good example is the Challeger class or 9 class. Its a tube chassis, ball joint front end (vw) swing axle rear, stock bore motor 1600= 1584cc. Its was ment for the entry level and affordable. Then you get guys like Adam Wix that build motors with off-set ground cranks to bring the cc's up to 1600 balance everything cost you 8,000 for one of his motors. Desert racing is alot of fun, but dont be fooled into the cheap fun. The best way to do it was to get some sponsers, for anything. As little as fuel to some of the more exspesive things. Its the only way to make it work and have fun. Dont forget to get your rule book before you start your build. Its better to know things first than to have to change mid stream. They'll tell you everything from fuel cells to fire wall placement to amount of suspension travell in your class. They are the Bible and you need to know it. The classes need to coinsight with the other sanctioning bodies so you can lure other racers from other groups to your races. Theres nothing like lining up for the start and having 30 cars just in your class. Good luck and good wheeling.

This is the point I'm trying to make, this is Utah racing not Vegas or SoCal... if you have ever been out to a boar race you know almost all of the cars are home built. I have never seen a Wix or Fat engine in this state. the engines I was using in my 5/16 baja was build by the Brown's out of west valley at the cost of about $1500 per engine. And as far as my class 10 it is powered by a stock 1300 hayabusa engine and I have more speed with it than most of the 10 cars in vegas and SoCal and the thing doesn't blow up it just runs perfect race after race. if you click the link below it is me at the start of the mint 400 this year and right at the first of the vid you will see beki wix take off in her pink Wix powered car. listen to it launch and then listen to mine... and remember her engine is $28,000 and mine was $1,900
