I followed a thread on another board were a person had for 7 months it was in rain twice and it seized. He cracked open the case to find it full of muck and rust.

He called them about the warranty and they would only supply parts but no money for repair time. The owner was a complete douche to him over the phone.

So I would say you get what you pay for ........

nope, but i can see one major difference between it and say a warn is warranty. Atlas only has a 1 year warranty, if you buy the cheap Tabor series warn it only has a 1 year, everything else is lifetime... if your going to spend that kind of money on a winch, you might as well spend a bit more and get the lifetime warranty... just my thinking

Those winches look like the tmax winches. mabey they are?
I know that the Summit Racing winches are tmax, but labeled summit and are around the same price as the atlas you had the link to.

I know its hard pay double for a warn (Cheapest 9.5xp price i have seen is $950 plus shipping) when you can get one of those other brands for under 500 bucks. but the warn is hands down a better product. But Ramsey makes a real nice compromise.

You do get what you pay for, however i will never touch a Ramsey!! Ask Seth at RL about his on the Wildyoats buggy:ugh:.... the spool grenaded itself on a 15+ft wall!

Ilean, Creighton, Von?, Bryson?... a number of people around to witness it...

scary..
