ATV riding in Moab

Hello: I apologize if I'm on the wrong forum for my question but I can't seem to find an answer to my question anywhere else.

I will be visiting Moab the first week in October and want to take my Honda 400 EXC Quad (I know it's not a 4X4). Are quads allowed on the Klondike bluffs trail? Are there any other fun ATV trails around the Moab area? I don't want anything intense. I also have a Honda 230CF but it seems there can be a lot of sand so the quad might be a better choice.

Are quads allowed are the Bar M, O, A, B trails?

Thanks for your patience and help! I really appreciate it.

First of all - welcome!

I'm pretty sure any type of ATV is allowed on most Moab trails. It's usually more of a question of "if" they can make it through the trail. Just please be sure to remain on trail and on designated routes. Nothing closes trails faster than stray tracks.

I'm sure there will be other more informative replies to follow. Good luck!

To my knowledge ATV's are going to be allowed on most Moab trails with the exception of those that enter National Parks (Canyonlands or Arches) as they prohibit non-street legal vehicles.

Chicken Corners trail is a real nice one for 2wd ATV's. Lots of great scenery. Be sure to check out the wind caves toward the end of the trail.

Book

When I went to Moab my first time, I knew of a couple of trails only by name. I had no idea where they were at or how difficult.

Someone suggested I purchase,"Guide to Moab, UT Backroads & 4-Wheel Drive Trails" by Charles A. Wells. I did and I still use it everytime I go down if I plan on running a new trail.

I know that the same person has one called,"ATV Trails Guide Moab, UT" which will let you know about the ATV trails. These books come complete with directions and GPS coordinates on how to get there, where the trails go, difficulty ratings and points of interests on each trail.

I know you can get them on Amazon.com as well as about every gas station in Moab. Pick one up, you will be glad you did.

Be careful on your ATV, there are ledges, steep climbs and some all around trails that you could get hurt on.

Thanks everyone for the great insight. I'll definitely check out the books. Any good trail suggestions for a dirt bike OR quad (advanced beginner/novice?). Can't wait!

My truggy was torn apart last april and some friends invited me to Moab. I didn't want the hassle of wrenching all night to get my junk ready, so I just took the 4wheeler.

Seriously the most fun I have had in a LONG, LONG time!!!!!! And the trip was stress free and enjoyable beyond measure!!!

It is a whole new world in Moab on a quad.. 2 little bumps that you wouldn't think twice about in a fullsize became challenging and fun......Good Times!!!!
