Automotive Under Coating??? Where to go?

Where can I go in SLC to get my Super Duty Under Coated?

I really want something that will last a long time, and a company that will do a great job.

I am sure theres got to be someone here who has had it done.

Any suggestions?

You a mechanic? I am. I see new trucks with rust underneath them all the time. Salt, road debry, flying off a rotating force, sands off the so called protective coating over avery short time.

Oh, and they DO still offer it as a D.A.P. Option in almost every major manufacturer.

I have seen with my own eyes the difference, and I have seen good jobs, and bad jobs.
I just need a recomendation for a good reputable place to go to get it done.

no, I am not a mechanic. But seeings how you are shouldn't you have a hook-up, being a mechanic and all.


heres a bright idea..........why don't you can a new car dealer???

have you even looked under a car of anytype that was done say 30+ years ago???????? It has rust because the undercoating traps moisture and causes RUST. :rolleyes:

Thats ok, in 30 years I will buy a new truck.
A.D.P. Undercoating and true undercoating are two different beasts. I want a real undercoat. Again, I wasnt looking for your opinion, every thread seems to always have someone that posts something that isnt constructive at all.

SO you know a place, or are you bored?

I am confused as to why you, being a mechanic and all, has no idea where to get an automotive process on his truck done. How long you been a mechanic? 2 months?


and I think undercoating is a toatl waste of time energy and products.

if you don't want opinions then don't ask questions. they go hand in hand. you honestly believe if I had suggested a place that it wouldn't be an opinion of who I think is the best????:confused:

6 Months, Diesel Mechanic. I know where we powdercoat our frames at, we do not undercoat Heavy Duty trucks, or at least the ones I work on. Oh and Heavy Duty trucks are usually dead before they have time to rust out. Its not common to work on something older than 96. Nut again their powder coated so they are usually set.
I dont have the time or the resources to disassemble my body off the frame to do that. I work nights, dont have the time to try and hunt someone down to find out if they know a place to get undercoating, and NOT a spray can of Duplicolor heavy paint .
Salesmen have all the time in the world to get connections to everything, not mechanics or at least mechaincs that actually work.

I just figured it was easier to ask the masses who modify their vehicles, and tow rigs. If I knew it was going to turn into a pissing match I wouldnt have bothered. Its sh!t like this that makes the forums a bad place to get any info anymore.
Oh and let me put it simpler words for you. I dont want an opinion on how you feel about under coating. If you had a reputable business in mind that you or a friend have experience with, THEN an opinion on said company would have been nice. Thats all. I am not trying to personally attack you. Just keep it constructive. Thank you.

there is nothing wrong with this forum, apparently you don't posses the skills to function on a BB ( oh sorry that was out of line :rolleyes: ).

my truck is 7+ years old with 115,000 and is kept ouside all year round (garage is to small) and I have next to no rust any where on its under carriage.

have you done any research on undercoating on newer vehicles?

man oh man......Maybe try some paint shops. I would think that they might know where you could have it done. I know my aunt had it done to her explorer years back, but I don't remember where at.

EVERY body shop I ever worked at offered it. It was just "high quality undercoat" in aerosol cans you can get at any paint supply store. I've always just washed the frame and underbody off same as I would the outside of the vehicle and left the undercoat to other people. Oh, and I don't have any recent experience. My body shop experience goes back over 12 years or more.......I've been a computer nerd since then.

So, in six months, it hasn't been common for you to work on comm trucks older than 96. Or were you trying to say you are an authority on the subject, as long as the subject only pertains to the last six months? Is this rust thing a worldwide, nationwide, or regional thing? 6 months...:rofl:
