Axleswap Problems.

I have been doing an axleswap as most of you know...

My Dana 35 has the breatherhose and the main brake line that connects to the axle on the driverside... On the Dana 44 I am putting on it was originally on the passengerside.

I have already bought new brake lines for the Dana 44, bent them and have them where they need to be... (I am setting them up to connect to the main line on the driverside) How can I hook them up? Should I just get a bolt and weld that to the axletube and then bolt it all up... Or should I just hook up the brake lines and let it just sit there and free float.

About the breather line, because that is also on the passenger side of the dana 44 and mine is on the driverside, how do I convert that to the driverside... Or do I lengthen it somehow and make it go over to the passenger side... Will that cause problems when I articulate and flex, will it break the line? What would u do?

Thanks.

Dont just let the brake lines float. Firmly attach to the axle tube. Weld a nut to the axle tube and bolt the brake line T to it. For the vent just hook ap a tube and run it as high as you can it wont care what side it is on.

So the vent hole was originally on the drivers and now you want to attach the brake line on that side?
Might be making things too easy but can you use the original vent hole for attaching your brake lines and the original brake hole for attaching the vent hose?

Factory tubler makes some really clean weld on brake line tabs..... but you have to pay for em..... you can also get some mettle plumbers tape (the stuff you see them use to hold up dranage pipe with the little holes in it) weld on a bolt to the housing and wrap the tape around the brake line and bolt it on....
the breather tube can be ran out of vacumme hose and made as long as you want. Just run it up as high as you can. Get a hose clamp that is a little larg and with the extra clamping material you have when you tighten it down run a sheet mettle screw through it and then ito a non visible body pannel i.e. inner fender well......
then its held up nice and neat out of the way and will go to whever is convenient.

Cool... All these make sense... I was going to weld the bolt onto the axletube and bolt down the brake line T, but the breather was on the same side as the brakes. Since the new axle is on the other side then the top of the breather hose should unhook from the body or frame somewhere right? I'll just relocate that over to the passengerside then...

Thanks guys!
