Why does the mainstream media never pick this kind of stuff up? I mean really. Can you answer that?

Days before the Sandy Hook shooting there was the mall in Oregon. Sadly what happened there was easily forgotten when the Conn. shooting took place.

Cliff notes: The attacker shot 2 shoppers. A young man with a concealed carry permit drew on the attacker. It was then that the gunman fled to the stair and shot himself.

If you have a CFP permit in Utah and you carry your firearm into this theater, you would be violating the theater's policy. If you we're caught, they could ask you to leave. If you refused, you may be charged with trespassing. It's only a trespassing issue at that point, don't make a scene, just leave and spend your money elsewhere. You haven't violated any state laws.

Just to clarify, the trespassing would have nothing to do with you having a concealed weapon, it'd have to do with you refusing to leave. The point though is exactly as you've pointed out, you haven't violated any state/federal laws.

For those that are curious, here's a FAQ from the state's website with most of the common questions answered.

I guess in my mind I would love to see a KSL/CNN/etc. article/report talking about these cases. It could include Trolley square too.

I think I am getting tired of hearing about all this great legislation that in my opinion will only make things worse.

I think my last post pretty well covers it. Its all about advertising dollars. And yes, major media outlets have a political slant. Be it left or right, so if a story doesn't figure into their political agenda, they wont cover it. There is this notion out there that the media is obligated to provide us with unbiased news reporting of any and all events. It's simply not true, and it never has been. Ever. Anyone ever heard of William Randolph Hearst? Hell, even Ernie Pyle, as celebrated as he is, had a very specific and biased view he was presenting in all his dispatches from the front in WWII. On both side of the spectrum the people that make the decisions at these companies know that they are far more likely to draw a larger audience when they are talking about an event like Sandy Hook and the ramification's it has on the national stage over and over again than talking about some "minor" event in San Antonio. Larger audience means more people watching ads. Simple as that. These are companies, many publicly held, that are obligated to their boards to turn a profit. Same as Walmart or Apple. If something isn't going to sell, don't put it on the shelf.

The one difference with your analogy of using Walmart or Apple is not that these stories won't sell, it's that they don't want them to sell.
