Bad News.. I am out!!!

Plumcrazy

Formerly GVHS
So just got the news that I am no longer employed here at the school after this year. Only reason given was "We beleive we can find someone that is better."

So those who have watched I started a major build this year with my students and funded it mainly out of my pocket. See this link here: http://www.rme4x4.com/showthread.ph...l-Shop-How-did-I-get-into-this-lol&highlight=

Needless to say I have lost my job and the shop I was working in.... Kids have lost chance at a great opportunity and it all sucks.... They told me that I did not have a job with less than 3 weeks left in year (by education standards it is horrible as most opening for next school year have been opened, filled and closed).

Most here agree that I have turned the program around, but evidently that was not enough.

Best part was they offered to buy the project from me for the original purchase price of the jeep, $800.... LOL

I have since figured up my total investment and am over $6000 easy....

So Now I have to decide what to do:

Finish it on my own(hard with no job)

Sell off unneeded stuff and put motor, axles etc in my jeep?

Not sure but had to vent.

Super sorry to hear the news.

i was enjoying the build thread and was looking forward to hearing how it turned out.

I wish you the best. (and still hope to see the end result)

Where do we send our mean letters and emails to?

It really will not do any good at this point and appreciate the help. Instead, I think I am might find a place this summer and have a few kids over and finish the build. i just need to find a space. I am getting word out now, maybe someone here will have a place for it. I can't afford $80 a month for storage and we have to out of the house by July. Hopefully my new place will have the room....

If you have a local autos program in your area make sure and support it. Stop by see what it is about, there are too many youngsters these days without work ethic, a mentor etc.

I will keep you all posted on the next steps.

I guess it is not as hard to fire a teacher as some people think.

sorry to hear man. Good luck and I will keep an eye open for a job here. The kids seemed to be motivated in your class and that is a hard thing to do.

Well since I had less than 3 years in the district, they can get rid of me for any reason. After 3 years there is a process that must occur. It includes a growth plan etc. In my case I was one of the highest paid non tenured teachers in the district with a masters degree and 10yrs experience. I am sure I either made someone mad(politics) or the principal is certain he can find a fresh grad with no experience or a masters degree saving the school about $15,000. It does suck and the fact they give no reason simply means they had no good reason.
