3. Are Moonbuggies the future of the sport?
Depends on the mission of UROC. If their mission is to be only unlimited rigs with bigtime sponsers and vehicles that only wheeler's can relate to, then the modified class is not viable. However, if they are looking to be able to reach the masses and have big crowds at the events with vehicles that most anyone can relate to, then they must keep the modified class. This said, the modified class should reflect those vehicles that the average joe can relate to. Moonbuggies are not an 'average' vehicleCraig S said:1. Is the Modified Class still a viable class in UROC?
I personally like to see the trail rigs. Linda and Todd adams are really fun to watch. There are others out there whose rigs still closely resemble stock rigs. Watching these rigs that still resemble 'stock' rigs (at least in body shape and relative frame dimensions) actually make me want to compete, or at least build my rig to be able to handle the competition style courses. From watching those rigs, I get ideas on how to increase the capability of my own rig. Watching a buggy simply shows me what is possible with the right combination of sponsers, fab skills, time and money. Most of which I'll likely never have.Craig S said:2. In some way, I do think they are part of the future. Give those people who have that combination of sponsers, fab skills, time and money an opportunity to show us what can be accomplished. I think the courses are going to have to change to accomodate both classes. In general, a rig built from a stock platform will have one heck of a time completing a course designed for a moonbuggy.Craig S said:3. Are Moonbuggies the future of the sport?
I think UROC does need to come up with a class definition that attempts to cover where the rules left off. If the class is based on stock rigs, then a certain amount of the stock vehicle needs to exist in the competition rig. I actually think they should re-consider allowing any frame mods between the rails. Make the team responsible for proving their rig conforms with the rules in the case of a dispute.Craig S said:4. Will freezing the Modified class rules help the class?
How come the comps aren't as much fun this year as they were last year?Craig S said:5. Any other thoughts?

Things went downhill after you left Craig. I think we're done with UROC for this year. We're definately(spellcheck anyone?) done with Po-rock. Looks like the ROCK RACES are the only game we fit in. Avalanche Ranch, Moab next year(during Easter jeep) and maybe one in Colorado Springs.
NO CONES, NO POINTS... LOTSA LAUGHS
Craig S said:Thanks for the vote of confidence, however, I still enjoy the UROC comps. They seem just like ARCA from 2001 that I competed in (are we going backwards).
I too am looking at the rock racing as an alternative. I'm up for the Moab one!!!
